Prior to the start of the season, the Montreal Canadiens revealed the exciting news that Nick Suzuki would become the team's captain.

In his first season as the Tricolore's leader, he is showing great things. On an individual level, despite a rash of injuries and the team's difficult campaign, number 14 has been successful, with 41 points in 52 games.

It's still an adjustment for him to captain the biggest team in NHL history. Nevertheless, he seems to be adapting more and more to his role and he really wants to make an impact in this organization.

Knowing full well that the CH is in a rebuilding process, the 23-year-old wants what's best for his team in the long term, but that doesn't stop him from worrying about short-term success and he's made that clear to management.

In a recent interview, Suzuki admitted that it has been far from easy this season with the team's results and that he has even gone to see Kent Hughes on several occasions to talk about his frustrations.

It's good to see that there is a direct link between Hughes and his young captain, and that despite being a young veteran, Suzuki wants the best for the team.

The number 14 also admitted to basing his decision on Shea Weber and the leadership qualities he has shown during his time with the CH.

"Shea had a lot of leadership qualities. He had the utmost respect from everybody. Respect is what I work on as a captain." - Nick Suzuki

We love knowing that Suzuki takes his role and responsibilities so much to heart. He will definitely get better with time and that's only a good thing for the organization.

I think we have a great captain on our hands and hopefully he will be for a very long time with the Habs.
