It's been a month since the Calgary Flames said goodbye to their general manager, Brad Treliving. But it seems that the 53-year-old isn't entirely free to explore new opportunities just yet.
Report Indicates Flames Won't Let Brad Treliving Get Another Job
Treliving joined the Flames back in April 2014 and for nearly nine years, he served as the team's general manager. His tenure saw him create five playoff-worthy squads during his time in Calgary. Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reports that the Flames are unwilling to permit teams to initiate discussions or interviews with Treliving until his contract ends on June 30th. Why hasn't Brad Treliving's name popped up for front office job openings? Teams are interested. Sources say early indication is #Flames do not plan to permit Treliving to interview for vacancies until after his contract expires on June 30. We'll see if that changes. Seravalli said in a tweet. As summer rolls around, more general manager positions are likely to open up. However, as of now, the only known vacancy lies with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Given their eagerness to fill the position before the NHL's Entry Draft in late June, the chances of Treliving landing that job seem slim. The Flames' current stance further complicates this, essentially taking this opportunity off the table for Treliving, at least for now.

As seen on Blade of Steel - Calgary Flames not allowing former general manager Brad Treliving to join another team
