Carey Price will miss a second straight season and that's probably the end of him in the NHL. Kent Hughes and the Habs will have to find a solution to develop or acquire a goaltender of the future. According to MTL Hockey Now reporter Marco D'Amico, there could be three interesting options for Kent Hughes as a successor to No. 31. Dustin Wolf With Jakob Markstrom guaranteed the No. 1 goaltending job and big contracts given to Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri, Wolf will most likely be caught in a position that could hurt his development in Calgary. The Flames, who have sacrificed a lot of their future to win now, may well try to trade him and add some good picks or prospects to their ranks. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen / Devon Levi Both Sabres goalies make this list as sooner or later Buffalo will have to make a choice between the two as the team's number one goalie. Levi is seen as the ideal candidate, but Luukkonen has worked hard over the past few years and seems ready to take on more responsibility in the NHL. Lukas Dostal This goaltender is not yet a household name in the NHL, but since joining the San Diego Gulls in 2021, he has maintained impressive stats despite the team playing well below 500. He played four games in the NHL last season and looked ready to make the jump.
