As we all know, Kent Hughes made a fairly major acquisition this summer with Alex Newhook. There have been many reactions to this acquisition, some good, some not so good. Speaking to 98.5 FM, André Tourigny, head coach of the Arizona Coyotes, commented on the transaction. First of all, he's a damn good guy. Newy's a good person. He's a guy who's in physical condition, very fast, fast hands, he's got a good shot. He's a guy who went to the right school in Colorado, a team that works very hard and folds very hard. He's a coachable guy too, he's a quality person and I think he's going to be successful. He's a talented guy, he's a guy who needs an opportunity and I think he was a good player in Colorado and he's going to be a good player with the Habs. There's a question of payroll and there's a question that they other had the opportunity to bring Ross Colton back and they made a choice with Colton who brings experience and a defensive game maybe superior to Newy. It's easy to judge choices from the outside. Colorado has a lot of power offense and didn't really have an opportunity for Newy to play on the power play there. They needed something else. It doesn't mean Newhook's not as good or anything, it just means they needed a different position on the team. - André Tourigny So we can put to rest the rumors that Colorado no longer wanted Newhook, it's a hockey decision that's been made. Kent Hughes has made a solid acquisition that could pay off handsomely, especially at 2.9 million a year for four seasons. We can't wait to see him in action! Credit: 98,5 FM
