Now that the trade deadline is behind us, it is time for many to analyze the work done by the organization over the past few days.

That's what the excellent Tony Marinaro did, during his most recent episode of the Sick Podcast.

The latter didn't beat around the bush to demonstrate his disappointment with the "changes" made at the trade deadline by the Tricolore.

The word "change" is intentionally in quotes, because other than acquiring Frederic Allard, the Habs haven't been very active.

What is interesting in the host's comments is his reflection on what the CH should have done at this important moment of the season.

He said that if your goal is to win the Stanley Cup, you owe it to yourself to be better than you were before the trade deadline. If you're a rebuilding team, you owe it to yourself to be worse after the deadline.

In the case of the Habs, as Marinaro points out, the team is not worse or better.

"They have no taste. They're gluten-free." -Tony Marinaro

This is especially where the Canadiens situation is particularly disappointing.

The club currently has the seventh best lottery odds, and all of the teams that are better positioned than the Habs for the draft have all liquidated assets that will directly impact on-ice performance.

Even St. Louis and Philadelphia, who have one and three more points than the Habs respectively, could improve their lottery chances and knock the Tricolore's down by the end of the season.

Chicago, Columbus, San Jose, Anaheim, Arizona and Vancouver have all been active in trading away important pieces of their respective rosters. They are all worse than they were before the trade deadline, but that's not the case with the Habs.

Even worse, the majority of the injured players on the roster could return to play in the coming weeks, which will certainly increase the quality of the team's roster.
