It would appear that a trade involving forward Anthony Mantha and Joel Armia is being seriously considered.

This transaction would be a way for the Canadiens to absorb Mantha's $5.7 million annual salary, while helping the Capitals manage their payroll in the short term.

Mantha, 29, recorded 27 points in 67 games last season and was acquired in 2021 from the Detroit Red Wings.
