In the last few hours, a rumor began to circulate regarding the potential departure of the Montreal Canadiens' Vice-President of Hockey Operations, Jeff Gorton.

It all started with a statement from Radio-Canada's excellent journalist, Martin Leclerc, who mentioned this on BPM Sports yesterday:

"Jeff Gorton probably wouldn't turn down a chance to return to work as general manager in another organization.

Jeff Gorton is bored with the Habs." - Martin Leclerc

Naturally, this statement has raised a lot of speculation about Gorton's possible imminent departure, in the coming weeks or months.

However, while he was also on BPM Sports in the last few minutes, TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie revealed something that changes everything in this rumoured file:

"Our contributor Renaud Lavoie wanted to set the record straight regarding Jeff Gorton's intentions. He went back to Nick Kypreos' article.

He confirmed that the V-P is in Montreal to stay." - BPM Sports

He even adds with the confirmation that the former New York Rangers GM would absolutely not leave the Tricolore.

"I can confirm that Jeff Gorton is not going anywhere." - Renaud Lavoie

It's a big turnaround in this issue that had Tricolore fans reacting greatly. Lavoie says that the rumors are unfounded and that Gorton is in Montreal to stay.

This is great news for the future of the organization!
