Patrick Kane has always been one of the most talked about NHL players throughout his career. This year people are talking about him in a different way though. Instead of focusing on highlight reel plays, fans are speculating as to what NHL team he will play for next. Now one Hall of Fame hockey analyst has added his opinion to the discussion.
Gretzky: Kane Should Sign With Tampa Bay Lightning
Wayne Gretzky has been an analyst for TNT since the channel started carrying NHL games in the United States. Most of his takes have been relatively mild, but every once and awhile he says something very interesting. Today we got one of those instances as he stated where he thinks Patrick Kane should sign. gretzky just said Kane should sign in Tampa that's my goat

The Lightning have not had their best start to the season this year, but they are still comfortably in the playoff race. Their 6-6-4 record has them in 5th place in a very strong Atlantic division, but they've also been playing without star goaltender Andre Vasilevskiy for the entire season so far. While Jonas Johansson has done an admirable job holding down the fort, there is no doubt that Vasilevskiy's return will be a huge boost to team moral and their play on the ice. So far though, rumors have not indicated that Tampa is one of the teams Kane is interested in.
Tampa Bay Lightning Join Kane Sweepstakes?
So far we have heard the following teams are involved in negotiations with Kane's camp to varying degrees. They are the; Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, and New York Rangers. However, it is believed that Kane's list currently consists of 8-10 teams. As a result, there could be a couple of mystery teams that are secretly involved in the Kane sweepstakes.

One of those secret teams could be the Carolina Hurricanes as NHL insider Elliotte Friedman hinted at.

That still leaves room for Tampa Bay to be another mystery team secretly involved. Reportedly, Kane's top priority is winning, and the Lightning have proven to be very good at that in recent years. However, Kane has also stated that he wants to play a prominent role on his new club, not just a depth piece. That could be a little trickier to figure out in Tampa.
