Defensemen, Charlie McAvoy and John Carlson, are pushing a lawsuit against a marketing agency for misuse of their likeness. The marketing company is called IF Management. After the termination of the contract, Carlson and McAvoy alleged that IF was still using their likeness without permission. The whole lawsuit is covered by Jason Morrin, a sports law reporter on X,

The defensemen expressed intent to leave via mail in November, 2023. This was escalated when McAvoy and Carlson's counsel sent a letter to IF asking them to remove any images of the defensemen from any of their websites.
