Today veteran free agent Max Pacioretty has been linked to a trio of teams who are discussing potentially signing him heading into the NHL season. With the offseason wrapping up around the NHL teams are starting to finalize their rosters. As a result, a few final free agents are expected to find homes in the coming days. A report from Frank Seravalli has confirmed that players like Justin Schultz, Tyson Barrie, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Max Pacioretty are drawing interest.

With three teams confirmed to be interested in Max Pacioretty let's take a look at some teams that have been connected to the veteran throughout the offseason.
Max Pacioretty connected to several teams ahead of the upcoming NHL season
Throughout the offseason, many in the media and fans have been hoping to see Max Pacioretty get another shot in the NHL. With that in mind, Max Pacioretty has been connected to the San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, and his former team the Montreal Canadiens throughout the season. The San Jose Sharks are a young team looking to learn how to win in the NHL. Despite adding a lot of talent to their roster they remain lacking veteran presence in their locker room. Adding a player with the pedigree of Max Pacioretty could fix these problems. For the Buffalo Sabres Max Pacioretty would likely serve as good depth and leadership within their lineup. After the loss of captain Kyle Okposo at the NHL trade deadline the Sabres are in need of a true veteran presence. If signed by Buffalo Max Pacioretty could play that bottom-six leadership role that Kyle Okposo held for many years. Finally, there is the Montreal Canadiens the team that Max Pacioretty was formerly the captain of. The Canadiens are looking to take a step towards contending this season and much like the previous two teams on this list could use veteran leadership. A path to playing time beyond the fourth line could be difficult in Montreal due to all of the young players that the Canadiens are hoping to develop. With Max Pacioretty near the end of his career, this could be a great bookend to finish his time in the NHL. Max Pacioretty of course is not the player he was in his prime. Last season in 47 games he tallied 23 points before getting injured. When healthy Max Pacioretty has shown he can be productive even at age 35. His health could scare many teams off but young teams like those mentioned above could gain major benefits from giving him a shot. The NHL season is approaching rapidly and teams need to finalize their rosters soon. Once the preseason begins it will be fun to see if Max Pacioretty finds himself on an NHL roster for one final ride.
