The NHL is set to play in its yearly Frozen Frenzy tonight, and fans are calling out Gary Bettman and the league for how poorly they decided to schedule the event.

Hockey enthusiasts are in for a treat as the NHL is about to witness an unforgettable night of consecutive action. For only the second time in league history, all 32 teams will take to the ice on this Tuesday night, setting up an action-packed slate that will no doubt have fans glued to their screens. With 16 games set, this is one of those nights where all teams will be in action that hockey lovers must see within one night. It's a night not to be missed for fans worldwide.

What makes it even more special is the way the schedule has been choreographed. The NHL has game times staggered with most matchups starting just 15 minutes apart from each other. It all kicks off with a marathon that begins at 6 p.m. ET as the Philadelphia Flyers take on the Washington Capitals and concludes in continuous action with the Los Angeles Kings battling the Vegas Golden Knights at 11 p.m. ET. Such is the theory: constant action will keep fans riveted. However, many took this further and criticized the league's decision to fit all these games on the same night the NBA opened its season. Many fans and analysts alike question why the league would want to dilute its own big night by piling so many games into one night, especially when Monday's schedule had some space with the lone game.

For those who can't decide which game to watch, the NHL has an answer: 6 1/2 hours of consecutive coverage via "Frozen Frenzy," accessible on a number of streaming platforms. This show tries to capture in a bottle all the excitement of each game, as fans are treated to a frenetic viewing experience that jumps from matchup to matchup. It is targeted at the most ardent hockey enthusiast who does not want to miss any bit of action as it plays out live, nor any moment that is crucial, hence putting them right in the front seat of all the frenzy.

The real highlight of the night, however, is the NHL's attempt to answer past complaints about poor scheduling. By the times being staggered, the league has avoided one of the more frustrating aspects of regular season games: overlap. The schedule allows for easy follow-through on multiple match-ups. It's a rather friendly approach to fans, changing that and giving viewers an ample overabundance of time to enjoy multiple games without missing parts of each that are important. Still a little sensitive, though, because the league decided to stack it on the same night as the NBA season opener; that's something they may want to reconsider in future seasons to avoid splitting viewership.

The NHL and its fans are in for a treat this Tuesday night with all teams taking to the ice in what amounts to an eight-hour marathon of hockey action. From the early game in Washington to the late-night showdown in Vegas, this night has a little something for everyone. But it's just that rare and exciting an opportunity to witness the whole league in one thrilling night, from the die-hard fan following "Frozen Frenzy" to the casual tuning in. What the NHL has put together is an event that will surely be one of the season's many highlights, and if you're a lover of the sport, it's surely not a night you'll want to miss.
