Former Calgary Flames defenseman Dillon Dube appears to be done in the NHL as he has signed in Russia while he awaits trial in Canada. In February of this year, London, Ontario police announced charges for five players from team Canada at the 2018 World Junior Championship. All five of the players named were active in the NHL, including star goaltender Carter Hart. Also among those charged was former Flames defenseman Dillon Dube.

The players being charged are all currently awaiting trial, which is not expected to happen until late in the season next year. As a result, several of the players have signed overseas in the KHL. Dube became the latest to do so today after he signed a one-year agreement with Dinamo Minsk.

The first player involved in the scandal to sign in Russia was former Devils forward Michael McLeod. He appears to be the one that started this trend, although the futures of the other three players involved remain uncertain. Interstingly, McLeod is also facing an additional charge while the rest of the players, including Dube, are all facing just one charge.

Dube was drafted in the second round, 56th overall by the Flames in 2016. He played in 43 games with the team last season before the year was cut short by London Police filing charges against him. In those games he scored 3 goals and 7 points. He played in 325 career NHL games, all with the Flames. He has 57 career goals and 127 points.
