Moritz Seider Drops The Gloves For First Career NHL Fight

22-year-old Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider finally got into his first proper fight at the NHL level today when he took on Predators veteran forward Filip Forsberg. He did pretty well all things considered.

Considering how long Seider has been in the NHL, it is a bit surprising he hasn't had a fight before this. The 22-year-old star blueliner has already played in 235 career NHL games, despite being drafted in 2019. We had to wait nearly three full seasons before we saw what he could do in a fight, but the wait was worth it for many Red Wings fans.

The Red Wings have dealt with a lot of adversity lately, but their playoff hopes remain alive. Instances like this fight show just how much the players care about their success this season, especially since Seider is among the last players fans would expect to drop the gloves.





That being said, every game from here on out is critical as the Red Wings remain locked in a tight race for the final playoff spot in the Eastern conference. Right now, it looks like the team very well could miss the second season as they trail Nashville late in the 3rd period.
