NHL Insider Predicts Shocking move for Jake Guentzel this Summer

Despite being traded at the deadline, one NHL Insider hasn't ruled out a shock reunion for star winger Jake Guentzel.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have some major work to do over the summer if they are to give the trio of Crosby, Malkin and Letang another shot at a Stanley Cup, and that may now include a surprising reunion.

Just a few weeks ago, the team dealt Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Michael Bunting and future assets, but now some are already looking to the summer.

It was a bittersweet move for the franchise, who needed to make a splash to restock their future assets, with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman revealing just how emotional the mov was for everyone involved.





The Penguins are now looking to build one last run around their three stars, with The Athletic's Josh Yohe revealing that Guentzel could shockingly make a return to the team in the summer as a free agent.



It remains highly unlikely, but given his emotional connections to Pittsburgh, it's something that's definitely still in play, but as we know, things can change very quickly in the NHL.

Either way, the Penguins are looking to make some huge moves this summer, and if Guentzel is open to a return, expect them to push hard for a Pittsburgh fan favourite.
