In recent news within the NHL, Evander Kane of the Edmonton Oilers finds himself at odds with the league's Department of Player Safety. The disciplinary body has mandated that Kane issue a payment following his actions in a recent match.During a confrontation in the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Kane was involved in an incident. It is reported that he engaged in unsportsmanlike behavior by using his spear against Cole Sillinger of the Blue Jackets while Sillinger was on the bench.
Official Statement on the Incident
The NHL's Department of Player Safety released a statement regarding the matter, specifying the details of Kane's infraction.
"In the course of the NHL's Game No. 995 hosted in Columbus on Thursday, March 7, Evander Kane of the Edmonton Oilers has been penalized with a fine of $2,500.
This penalty comes as a consequence of unsportsmanlike conduct directed towards Cole Sillinger of the Columbus Blue Jackets. The incident took place at the 46-second mark of the second period. The fine collected will be directed towards the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund."
