After being stretchered off the ice earlier today, the NHL have given a surprisingly positive update on Steve Kozari's situation. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/Sportsnet/status/1776691534773002379'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/NastyKnuckles/status/1776690959666852036?t=0mCwgFtBZYEK3U-LdeKq2A&s=07'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/hockeydaily365/status/1776688962410594471?s=46&t=8aOH2b5DsCLhYPENRvEyLA'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/puckreportnhl/status/1776703292753531370?s=46'> </a></blockquote></div> The NHL does a great job in protecting their officials, but like we saw on Saturday, sometimes they just can't get out of harms way, as Steve Kozari incidentally collided with defenseman Haydn Fleury. This resulted in him being stretchered off the ice, much to the shock of the fans in attendance, but now, we have a positive update on his situation. <q>Referee Steve Kozari was transported to UPMC Mercy hospital for precautionary reasons after a collision with Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Haydn Fleury in the third period of the Penguins-Lightning game this afternoon. Kozari is conscious and alert, has the use of all of his extremities and is expected to make a full recovery.</q> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/pr_nhl/status/1776720075157856258?s=49&fbclid=IwAR0RG3tfU9dE6eBsF9EQdgrmJUrLPHoiMcxtKL35Ch3gxcHYbHTip00WOTY_aem_AURZmaMbHe8kUGBhQ_xbYEhLB9VMe4Mb108FngWOz9tPP0vnbpwr3RdpX8hYt5R9QiS13Q_psgFj-a9Cz2c6OCKu'> </a></blockquote></div> Absolutely no one could blame Kozari for staying away from his role for the rest of the season after this collision, with his health coming first, so whether he's back or not, it's a major positive that he's okay and will likely suffer no long-term damage.
