The Reason John Tortorella is Scratching Sean Couturier Is Revealed

Sean Couturier is the Philadelphia Flyers Captain, so it is interesting to see John Tortorella scratching him for seemingly no reason. Now, the reason has been revealed.

Sean Couturier and the Head Coach of the Flyers John Tortorella seem to have a rocky relationship going on right now, as Couturier has been scratched for the past two games in a row. There has been a lot of speculation as to why, maybe Tortorella is sending a message to his players down the stretch, or maybe something happened between Couturier and Tortorella, or, it is just his lack of quality play during the last few games. Tortorella has not answered any questions on the matter, keeping fans in the dark.

However, now there is speculation that Tortorella has been scratching him due to his slow foot speed. John Tortorella is well known for how he likes speedy, tough players, and this could be the reason for scratching his captain.





The post, though, makes a great point. He is not magically going to become a faster player. While he can certainly work on it throughout his contract, Couturier isn't likely going to become the next Connor McDavid when it comes to foot speed. John Tortorella will have to find a good place to use his assets, as that is the responsibility of the head coach. At the minimum, Couturier and his agent are hoping for a clear explanation as to why he is being scratched.

Hopefully, for Flyers fans, the two figure out whatever is going on between them and Couturier can get back into the lineup.
