The Florida Panthers are on their way to Edmonton for game three of the Stanley Cup final, but not before major delays set them back in a big way. Reports emerged just moments ago that the Panthers have officially taken off from the Ft. Lauderdale airport. It was not clear whether or not they would be able to leave as the area is currently being hit with a major thunderstorm. Their original flight was scheduled to leave at 10AM EST, but it was pushed back until after 4PM. JUST IN: The Florida Panthers plane has taken off. Hopefully their flight does not run into any further delays in the air. JUST IN: The Florida Panthers flight has taken off, according to @flightaware. The Oilers, on the other hand, left for Edmonton yesterday, giving them to full nights rest at home ahead of what will be their most important game of the season. Hearing the Panthers plane just took off after several delays in South Florida. They won't get into Edmonton until Wednesday night. Thursday has an early puck drop, 6:20 MT. The Oilers flew Tuesday and will get two full nights at home ahead of Game 3.

We will just have to wait and see if that difference in rest will have an impact on the game. The Panthers surely seem to be at a disadvantage due to the lack of preparation time, as well as being the visiting team. Could this give the Oilers a chance to get back in the series?
