Detroit forward looks to be next possible player to receive an offer sheet according to insider

As we have seen two offer sheets favor the team that has reached out and the players, NHL hockey insider and NHL Trade Rumors suggest another one could happen soon.

St. Louis walked away with two prospects this week from the Oilers, and those players walked away with more money than they would have seen staying in Edmonton. Now, it looks like another player is posed to receive a sheet.

According to both Hockeyy Insiderr, an anonymous source, and NHL Trade Rumors, Lucas Raymond may be looking at an offer sheet coming his way from the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres this summer are actively trying to increase their firepower this off-season. So it is no surprise that the Sabres might be interested in the 22-year-old forward from Detroit.

Raymond last season for the Red Wings scored 72 points, of which 31 were goals and played in all 82 games. A 30 plus goal scorer at 22 would be on any teams radar.

An offer sheet from Buffalo would come at a risk, as it would be believed that the Red Wings would match any offer.

It seems this is the off-season for offer sheets. And this could show a shift in the NHL dynamic. Teams are not even waiting for young team to play out the first-year contracts. They are trying to get the young prospects before they hit free agency.

There is no word on if the Sabres actually did offer a sheet to Raymond as of yet. But it does appear that the Sabres are looking to make a push this year to be a playoff team and not just sitting around to see if it will happen.
