The Edmonton Oilers have put a «Help Wanted» sign on the left side of their blueline, after they decided to not match the St Louis Blues $4.58 million offer sheet to Philip Broberg. It was significantly above GM Stan Bowman's price range of $1.8 million.

Travis Dermott seems like a solid option. He has 329 NHL games under his belt, and he has a history with Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch from their time together with the Erie Otters in the OHL.

Jarred Tinordi is another possibility, but the 32 year-old journeyman has found some stability with the Chicago Blackhawks so that's out the window despite the pleas of Oilers nation to lure him to Alberta.

Then there's Libor Hajek, an unproven 26-year-old defenseman who's played 110 NHL games and was also coached by Knoblauch when he was the New York Rangers AHL affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack.

Adding some depth on defense before the season starts could pay off, and don't be surprised if the Oilers make an even bigger move closer to the trade deadline to strengthen their blue line.
