Basketball superstar Shaquille O'Neal recently shared his thoughts on women's basketball after the former NHLer Bobby Ryan made some controversial comments about the sport.

Bobby Ryan, a former NHLer, shared his controversial opinion on women's basketball in a rant on X.

"Why does it seem like everyone is watching women's basketball??

Oh because EVERYONE is watching."

Bobby Ryan: "Name 7 players. Not 1. Not 25-7. First and last namesgo for it."

This led to a public disagreement with well-known hockey reporter Chris Johnston:

Chris Johnston: "Hey @Bobbyry5409, buzz off with this nonsense."

Bobby Ryan: "Actuallywatch this Chris."

"Hey Chris Johnson I'm sorry this got a little further than you thoughtwhile we use the word «nonsense» are we just going to skip over your conflict of interest? Or we gonna skip over it? Have a great night!"

Last weekend, the popularity of women's basketball was on full display. For the game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the LSU Tigers, over 12.3 million people tuned in.

The sport is extremely popular and Ryan just doesn't see it.

This could change as the basketball star Shaquille O'Neal stepped in. On his podcast, he shared how much he enjoys watching women's basketball, revealing that he's been watching it more than men's basketball this year.

"The boys s***, but I'm definitely following the girls... I don't think I even know any men's [players]."
