As the Coyotes prepared for their final game representing Arizona against the Edmonton Oilers, tensions rose as tailgating fans faced eviction from Mullet Arena.

After a search for a new home, the Coyotes have now sealed the deal with Ryan Smith, who has officially purchased the team. Their relocation to Salt Lake City, Utah looms on the horizon for the 2024-25 season.

In a bid to say farewell to their Arizona era, the Coyotes have planned a whiteout event, providing white shirts for all their fans.

However, this gesture soured when the team dispersed fans participating in tailgate parties outside the arena before the game. This was especially upsetting because the arena only holds 5,000 fans.

What could have been a heartfelt tribute to the Coyotes' 28 years (1996-2024) in Arizona quickly turned into another disappointing moment.

While it may be too late for the Coyotes to salvage their relationship with their fanbase, the hope is that Ryan Smith and Utah don't do the same, and treat them fairly.
