The Columbus Blue Jackets took a little risk drafting Cayden Lindstrom, and now they will need to be patient after his injury history has once again become an issue. After an impressive 2023/24 campaign with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL where he scored 27 goals in just 31 games, Cayden Lindstrom shot to the top of NHL Draft boards, and unsurprisingly, had plenty of interest in the lottery. Despite his injury history, the Columbus Blue Jackets jumped at the opportunity to draft him, picking up with the fourth overall pick, adding yet another elite prospect to their already bright future. However, the one drawback to his potential is his injury history, and it's become an issue once more, as Lindstrom will now officially miss the NHL's Prospect Challenge in September, according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.

Not only that, but when the Blue Jackets reconvene for training camp, the 18-year old will be there in a very limited capacity, no doubt giving some fans concerns about his health issues as they look to end a lengthy rebuild.

However, the team have made it clear that they're being patient with his development, and if that continues and he can improve on his health, with his combination of size (6-foot-3, 210 pounds), skill and production, there's no doubting that he could be one of the NHL's best young players very soon.
