It is no secret that things have not gone well for Jeff Skinner in Edmonton and now a new report from an Oilers analyst has revealed what the future likely holds for him. Earlier this month Oilers reporter Kurt Leavins revealed that he expects Jeff Skinner to hold firm and block any potential trades out of Edmonton. Since this report came out the Oilers have continued to shove Skinner down at the bottom of the lineup limiting his minutes and even scratching him for several games in a row.

With Skinner continuing to have trouble finding a role in Kris Knoblauch's lineup rumblings continue to come out of Edmonton linking Skinner to a move elsewhere for more playing time. Even Skinner in recent days has spoken out about wanting to be in the lineup and being frustrated with his lack of playing time. I don't know, I mean, you always wanna play as a player. You know? Guys want to play. So, it is what it is. Now a former Oiler and current NHL analyst Jason Strudwick has suggested that Stan Bowman, Kris Knoblauch, and Jeff Skinner need to sit down and discuss his future.
Former Edmonton Oiler believes the team needs to move on from Jeff Skinner
In a new segment former Edmonton Oiler Jason Strudwick opened up on what he believes the team needs to do to resolve the situation with Skinner. I believe there's going to be a mutual agreement to say guys, this just isn't working out. Let's find a solution where we're going to get the chance to move you to someplace you can play and play more. He's not a fourth-liner. Strudwick understands that Skinner is not useful to the Edmonton Oilers as a fourth-liner and that Skinner does not want to play that type of role just to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Tonight Skinner draws back into the Edmonton Oilers lineup but will once again be forced into a fourth-line role.

If Skinner cannot find a way to work himself up the lineup during this latest opportunity to play then it could be the last straw that leads both sides to finally explore a change of scenery. As the NHL Trade Deadline approaches this will be a situation to follow and Skinner's playing time as well as production over the next couple of games could seal his fate in Edmonton.
