Igor Shesterkin is one of the best goaltenders in the NHL, and now it appears as though the Rangers are willing to pay him as one. While the New York Rangers haven't won a Stanley Cup in 30 years, they've had some success over the past three, making the Eastern Conference Finals twice in that time. A lot of the credit in that time can go to the likes of Chris Krieder, Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad, but through it all, it's been goaltender Igor Shesterkin that has played an incredible role in their success. Now, after winning a Vezina Trophy, he's set to be a free agent after the 2024/25 season, and according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the team are willing to give him a huge contract when he's ready. Our understanding is that the Rangers have let Shesterkin's camp know they are willing to pay him more than the $10.5 million that Carey Price made and is still on the books for

That would be a tremendous contract for Shesterkin, but at 28-years of age and his prime still ahead of him, he's one of the only goaltenders in the league worth that type of money, and given how crucial he is to the Rangers success, this report shouldn't come as a surprise. In 213 NHL games thus far, Shesterkin has put together a .921 save percentage and a 2.43 GAA, all while compiling an impressive 135-59-17 record, and with his play rising in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he's arguably the best net minder in the NHL.

A recent report revealed that if the two sides can't make a deal before the 2024/25 season begins, no extension talks would be held throughout the year, but with this type of money being thrown around, it's safe to say that New York are the favourites to keep the former fourth-round draft pick.
