Captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby has one year left on his contract and there has been a lot of speculation on the numbers he can expect in a deal. With Crosby as well as the other two core guys Letang and Malkin over 35 years old, the Penguins should be in a win one more now state of mind. Crosby is in the final year of his 12-year $104.4 million dollar deal (AVV of $8.7 million which is his number and birthday 8/7). He would be eligible to be a free agent after next season without a deal.

Penguins Insider Rob Rossi of the Athletic let's Penguins fans know there is no need to worry. The organization and Crosby's camp both feel comfortable enough with the way negotiations have been going to take a break for the summer and allow for some downtime. I made a few calls to follow up, and the only real news perhaps another subjective term is that all parties (Crosby and his agent, Pat Brisson, and Penguins president of hockey operations/general manager Kyle Dubas) were comfortable enough with where the contract negotiations stood that everybody felt comfortable going about summer plans such as taking holidays and enjoying a bit of downtime, Rossi explained. Nobody from the Penguins' hockey side is worried about Crosby eventually putting ink to paper. This is not to suggest some folks who deal with season-ticket holders/corporate partners aren't sweating until he does.

With Crosby's age, he is not slowing down. Last year he posted 42 goals and 52 assists while playing in every game of the season.

Crosby continued to break records last year and milestones were met just adding to his hall of fame career. He will be considered one of the best of all time in the NHL once he decides to hang up the skates.
