In last night's game between the New York Rangers and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sidney Crosby confronted Igor Shesterkin behind his net, which led to an altercation between them.

Crosby was following the puck and tried to get past Shesterkin behind the net, but the veteran hit a wall. He pinned Crosby against the wall using his back, then turned around to push him away with his stick.

"Igor Shesterkin not afraid to give it to Sidney Crosby"

Later, Crosby commented on their short clash, saying it was more about the heat of the moment than anything else.

"I think he's just trying to get himself in the game, obviously we had the lead, and he didn't see a lot of shots in the 2nd, we didn't get a lot. I think he was trying to create a little emotion. I've had a few run ins with goalies in this building before, so I've tried to learn from that a little bit and just try to worry about playing. But we were just competing out there and I don't think there's anything to that. You know that's one that usually doesn't happen, but you know, that's part of the game."

The Penguins are having a tough season, and they'll likely will miss the playoffs for the second straight year. However, last night's win gave them two valuable points, and their chances of making it to the playoffs went from 1.3% to 8.2%.

As for the Rangers, they have already secured their playoff spot, being the first team to do so this season.

More to come.
