Former NHL player and BPM Sports radio host Georges Laraque has made several controversial trade proposals that have not gone over well with the public recently.

After proposing to trade Kirby Dach for Pierre-Luc Dubois, which would be an absurd deal for the Habs, with an explanation in the following article, Laraque is back at it again.

During his appearance on Tony Marinaro's podcast, the former Habs player once again provoked a lot of reactions by raising a trade proposal involving young Juraj Slafkovsky.

First of all, he said, after only 39 career NHL games, that Slafkovsky will never become a first line winger.

"Slafkovsky will never be the winger for Suzuki and Caufield." - Georges Laraque

To say the least, Marinaro really disagrees with him:

However, where it gets completely out of hand is when he suggests trading the 18-year-old, while subtly mentioning that he doesn't want him in Montreal anymore.

"I would make a package including Slafkovsky, to acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois. I don't want him here anymore." - Georges Laraque

"You know what I would do with Slafkovsky? I'd include him in a bid to get Dubois."

(Marinaro bursts out laughing)

"But I'm serious Tony, I'm serious. [...] He's getting picked up by smaller players despite his imposing size." - Georges Laraque

Honestly, I'm holding back so as not to disrespect Laraque, but seriously, his comments make absolutely no sense. Good thing he has no control over the future of the team, because that would be a critical mistake.

Check out Marinaro's very direct response, which is absolutely right:

"George, they changed you, they ruined you, I don't know what happened (with you). [...] George, this has to stop. George, you would trade Juraj Slafkovsky, who is 18 years old, who is in his very first season in the NHL, who has an incredible profile, who is 6 feet 4 and 230 pounds, who is still on his rookie contract. [You have to give him the chance to learn!

George, would you seriously trade Slafkovsky, again, for Dubois? Why would you do that? Are the Canadiens going to win the Stanley Cup next season with Dubois?

Slafkovsky is part of the rebuilding plan, it's beautiful, they will grow together. You want to trade one of the three brightest prospects in the organization, who has played 45 games (39 actually), and you want to trade him already?" - Tony Marinaro

George counters that he would "trade him for Dubois.

I'm just going to say that's a totally absurd proposition.

What do you think? Would you trade Juraj Slafkovsky for Pierre-Luc Dubois?

Remember that the Quebecer could possibly sign with the Tricolore in 2024, if he decides to re-sign for only one year for the next season, in order to become an unrestricted free agent the following summer.

I really like the idea of Dubois joining the Habs one day, but never in return for a young player, let alone one who costs much less than he does.

If he is going to come to Montreal, the young core of the team is out of the question.
