According to information reported by renowned journalist Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the New York Rangers are not finished shopping and are trying to make another big move.

The team's GM, Chris Drury, is still looking to acquire star forward Patrick Kane from the Chicago Blackhawks, according to Brooks.

Wow!

That's quite a turnaround, especially after adding Vladimir Tarasenko from the St. Louis Blues.

However, given the limited space under the salary cap, for such a deal to happen between the Rangers and Blackhawks, a third team would have to be added to the trade, as we saw in the recent Ryan O'Reilly trade to Toronto.

Basically, the Blackhawks would have to hold back 50% of Kane's salary and the other team would have to hold back 25% to ensure that the Hawks' #88 salary would only count for $2.625M on the Rangers' payroll.

In addition, the reporter adds that Drury would not want to part with his first round pick in 2023. He will have to find a deal with Chicago to take the 2024 or 2025 pick, along with a few prospects.

In my opinion, since Kane had two teams at the top of his potential destination list, which was New York (Rangers) and Toronto, the Hawks now have their backs against the wall for a deal involving the future unrestricted free agent.

If they want to get something worthwhile in return for him, they will have to accommodate the Blue Shirts to facilitate a trade.

A possible trade involving the 2024 or 2025 first-round pick, plus young players Vitali Kravtsov, Jake Leschyshyn and a prospect like Will Cuylle or Zachary Jones, could materialize in the next few days.

Imagine the Rangers offense with Patrick Kane, Vladimir Tarasenko, Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, Vincent Trocheck, Filip Chytil, Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafreniere. It's really starting to get scary.
