Andrei Markov has had a superb career with the Habs, while Logan Mailloux has yet to play a single regular-season game, and that might not happen this year. It's impossible to compare them.

However, it's not about statistics, it's about roles. Andrei Markov was drafted in the 6th round in 1998 by the CH as a forward. It was upon his arrival in North America that he converted to a defenseman. It was a stroke of genius, as he quickly became the general.

"The Voskresensk native was initially a forward selected by the Canadiens in the sixth round of the 1998 draft. He came to North America without much enthusiasm and quickly became one of the world's hottest defensemen. And before all was said and done, he was an NHL all-star, an Olympian, a world champion and a Gagarin Cup winner in the KHL."

Logan Mailloux is already a defenseman, but could he play forward and go the opposite way of Markov? In Monday's game against the Senators rookies, he was used up front on the power play. And so was David Reinbacher.

As for Mailloux, his offensive talent is undeniable. He's big, fast, has good reflexes and a great shot. In short, the instinct is there. Even as a defender, he's regularly on the attack and doesn't hesitate to cut into the net.

It remains to be seen, it's only a hypothesis, but with the congestion of good defensemen in the organization and the lack of punch up front, would you like to see the Habs try to convert him to a winger?
