Today, the exclusive interview of the excellent journalist Anthony Martineau, from TVA Sports, was published and we can see a very interesting conversation where the Montreal Canadiens' prospect, Logan Mailloux, "tells his story for the very first time".

Thanks to Martineau's very good work, we can discover more about the organization's 2021 first round pick, which also allows us to get to know the individual personally in ways other than his controversial past.

This was the very first interview since his draft. A very nice transparency on the history of the latter, in order to better discover one of the most beautiful hopes of the Tricolore.

Mailloux first wanted to send a strong message to the fans, in French as well:

"I want to thank all the Canadiens fans who have supported me for the past year and a half and who have stayed with me. You have helped me. I know it hasn't always been easy, but I really appreciate it. Now I just want to bring the Stanley Cup back to Montreal." - Logan Mailloux

The 19-year-old adds that he wants to continue practicing his French, so that he can always address fans in their language. Thanks to the video, we can notice that he is already doing very well in the language.

He also talked about his family. He has an older sister who plays in the NCAA and his father who is a retired police officer. His mother is a real estate agent.

Where it gets a little more interesting in terms of the Habs' future is that Mailloux believes he can become the offensive defenseman the Habs are looking for.

The one who already has 17 goals and 36 points in 38 games with the London Knights is unequivocal.

"Yes, I really think I can be the offensive defenseman that CH fans are looking for and I plan to do everything I can to get there." - Logan Mailloux

He admits to comparing himself to defensemen like Seth Jones and Brent Burns. Mark Hunter, his GM with London, even adds a layer:

"I think his NHL production will be between 40 and 60 points, depending on how good the group is offensively from year to year. Quite frankly, Canadiens fans have every reason to be excited about Logan." - Mark Hunter

Wow, we absolutely love these comments coming from someone as well placed and reputable as Hunter.

One facet of his game that CH fans may be particularly excited about is that he also mentioned that he is not afraid of anyone on the ice and will never hesitate to jump up to help or defend a teammate. The Habs may not be intimidated like they used to be, with Arber Xhekaj and Mailloux never letting it get to him.

In all honesty, the towering 6-foot-3, 217-pound defenseman looks like a damn good kid.

He seems to have worked tremendously over the past year and a half to become a better hockey player, a better teammate, but most importantly a better person.

The London Knights defenseman still has a ways to go to get forgiveness for his actions, but one thing is for sure, he is on the right track.

The proof? Even with a change in the Tricolore's management, while it could have been very easy to dismiss this problematic case out of hand, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton decided instead to work with the organization's hopeful.

If he hadn't progressed on a human level, Hughes would never have offered him his NHL entry-level contract last fall.

Mailloux recounted the dream day when he learned that Hughes wanted to offer him his entry-level contract.

"Kent Hughes called me into his office at the beginning of camp and told me he wanted to formalize my association with the team before I left for London. I couldn't stop smiling! That moment really warmed my heart. My parents were also very excited! They have been there for me from the beginning and have made so many sacrifices!" - Logan Mailloux

All transcripts were done by the excellent Anthony Martineau of TVA Sports.
