Lots of action at the Canadiens training: good and bad news

The Montreal Canadiens had a practice Friday morning, the day after a well-deserved day off following two wins in two days.

In good news, defenceman Michael Matheson was back on the ice with his teammates. He was wearing a non-contact jersey. A return to the game is expected very soon in his case.

On the bad news side, Brendan Gallagher was out for a day of treatment. His injury is believed to be directly related to the shot he took on the ankle from Tyler Myers against the Canucks.

To fill Gallagher's absence from practice, Josh Anderson was left on the right side of the line with Christian Dvorak and Mike Hoffman.

Hoffman is back from his two-game suspension, but it's not clear at this point which lineup he'll be on for Saturday's game against the Penguins.

Juraj Slafkovsky (suspension) and Chris Wideman (left out) were the extras.
