New Utah NHL Team already looking at major free-agent

Just days after it has all but been confirmed that Utah will be getting an NHL team, reports have already surfaced that they are going to be aggressive in free agency.

Even though it has not been confirmed yet, all signs are pointing to Utah getting an NHL team next season. Players have reported that they were told the team is moving to Utah, and the only thing remaining is an official announcement from the NHL.


Now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed that the new team in Utah is already eyeing making a splash in free agency, stating that they were going to be aggressive in their signings and trades this offseason.





That has sparked discussion on who the new Utah team hopes to land in order to bring in some ticket sales in the new City. The big name on the free agency list this summer appears to be Steven Stamkos, especially as negotiations appear to have been going downhill in Tampa.



There is really no risk for new ownership to take a big jump this upcoming season, as they look to attract new fans to the game. The Coyotes were nothing special, and they failed to make the playoffs again this year. This should give the new owners and management the leeway to take big risks in the new City.

If anything, hopefully the new Utah ownership learns from the failures of the Coyotes ownership group in these final few months, and the players and their families are treated better.
