Maple Leafs agree to terms with top NCAA defenseman Cade Webber

This evening news has come in that the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed one of their top defensive prospects to a contract. The Maple Leafs and Boston University Terriers defenseman Cade Webber have agreed to a deal.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were quick to act signing defenseman Cade Webber to a contract just a day after his Boston Terriers team was eliminated from the NCAA Frozen Four. He now signs an entry-level contract and is expected to be with the NHL club right away.

Drafted 2019 4th round, had 6 pts in 38 GP for Boston University. Acquired from Carolina in March for a 2026 6th.

Cade Webber was acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this year for a 6th round pick. He was named the top defensive defenseman in Hockey East for the 2023-24 season. As the season winds down the question will be whether Cade Webber gets into a game or not.
