The Calgary Flames appear on their way to a full blown rebuild under Craig Conroy, and now another top name in Rasmus Andersson is drawing interest. In the past 12 months, the Calgary Flames under GM Craig Conroy have traded Nikita Zadorov, Elias Lindholm, Chris Tanev, Tyler Toffoli, Jacob Markstrom and Noah Hanifin, and the fire sale may not be over just yet. Following a stellar 2024 NHL Draft, the Flames future once again has a spark of hope, and as such, their veterans continue to garner trade interest. The latest player to do so is defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who has two-years remaining on his current deal, and with the team not expected to be competing for the playoffs in that time, he makes sense as a trade chip. #Flames are looking to eat some cap space for draft picks and prospects. They also have received some interest in D Rasmus Andersson, but thats going to be quite a hefty price. Have discussed interest in Kaapo Kakko with #NYR as well. #NHL

Obviously to pry Andersson out of Calgary won't be cheap, but after tallying 138 points over the last three seasons and being stellar in his own zone, it could be worth it for a team looking to take the next step towards Stanley Cup contention. In the past few days, the Rangers and Flames have been linked for several different reasons, and if New York want to ramp up their blue line, expect those connections to continue.
