This evening a new announcement has been made by the Vancouver Canucks regarding the availability of Quinn Hughes for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off.

Throughout this week Quinn Hughes has been dealing with an injury that has kept him out of action for the Canucks.

Despite missing multiple games for the Canucks Hughes' status for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off had not been officially determined.

Tonight that has all changed as Patrik Allvin and the Canucks front office announced that Hughes would not be attending the 4 Nations Face-Off due to the injury.

This is a huge loss for both Vancouver and Team USA heading into such a notable tournament.

From the Canucks perspective the fact that Hughes is unable to play could be a concern for his long-term health beyond this tournament as well.

On the Team USA side, they likely lost their best and most dynamic defenseman for the tournament just days before the events were about to begin.

Stepping in to replace Hughes for Team USA will be Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson who will now have a big role to fill within the Americans lineup.

It seems as though the Canucks are just being overly cautious with Hughes and expect him to be fine for the stretch run of the season.

Hopefully, despite the disappointment for this tournament and playing for his country, Quinn will be healed for the second half of the season to try and help lead the Canucks back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

As more details are provided from the Canucks organization regarding Hughes' status going forward we will pass along the latest details to you.
