Tonight the Vancouver Canucks have suffered a frustrating loss as goaltender Thatcher Demko suffered a frustrating injury during a game he was expected to start.

After being linked as a potential trade piece at the NHL Trade Deadline Thatcher Demko's season has taken an unfortunate turn as he has suffered a potentially serious injury.

The Canucks were getting ready to face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight when suddenly Thatcher Demko left the ice and went down the tunnel in discomfort.

He was replaced during warmups by Kevin Lankinen and his status for the game was unknown.

Eventually, as the team emerged for tonight's game Lankinen came out as the starter and Demko would be ruled out for the rest of the night.

This latest injury is yet another setback for Demko in what has become an injury-riddled few seasons that has held him back from being the elite talent he once was.

After playing over 50 games last season Demko was shut down and played just one playoff game due to injury and just has not been the same since.

This injury is a tough break for Demko and the Canucks and could put Patrik Allvin and the front office in a situation where they need to trade for a goaltender before the deadline.

Hopefully, this injury is not related to the serious injury he suffered last season and is not as bad as it might appear to be at the moment.

As more updates are provided by Rick Tocchet, Patrik Allvin, and the rest of the Canucks staff we will pass that information along to you.
