With the NHL heading on hiatus for the 4 Nations Face-Off it gives GMs time to discuss potential moves and today the Jets have been linked to a superstar defenseman. Earlier this week reports suggested that the Jets could have a tough time ffinding an impact defenseman on the trade market if they wait too long. The Jets despite their incredible start to the season do still have needs heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs and one of those needs is depth on defense. While the Jets have players like Josh Morrissey and a breakout defenseman in Dylan Samberg an upgrade has always felt like it is needed. Today a new report has connected the Jets to a player who has received votes for the Norris Trophy in the past couple of seasons Noah Dobson.
Winnipeg Jets Linked To Blockbuster Trade For Noah Dobson
In a new report for Yahoo Sports, Julian Guadio suggests that New York Islander defenseman Noah Dobson could be the perfect blockbuster trade to take the Winnipeg Jets to the next level. They have been searching for a defenseman to play on their bottom pairing or find someone who can shift down a current roster player into that final pairing. Dobson could slot next to Dylan Samberg and form a formidable pairing. If the Jets feel they need to make a major upgrade at the deadline Dobson could be one of the best options to make that happen. The Islanders currently sit outside of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and have been on the verge of a rebuild for several seasons now. Trading Dobson could begin that process and set them up well to succeed in the future. For the Jets, they would land a superstar defenseman in Noah Dobson who tallied 70 points in 79 games last season while being one of the better defensive defensemen as well. Dobson is a true two-way threat defenseman and would be a major upgrade for the Jets. Of course, this type of trade would require a massive return heading to the Islanders including picks and prospects. If the Kevin Cheveldayoff and the Jets were to make this trade it would be a huge sign that they believe in this group to win the Stanley Cup. As more reports come in regarding the potential moves the Winnipeg Jets will make at the NHL Trade Deadline we will pass along the latest news.
