Today in a new interview with Sportsnet a former Vancouver Canucks forward has torched him for not stepping up enough in his new role. After trading away J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers the General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks Patrik Allvin made it clear that expectations were being cranked up for Elias Pettersson. With the Canucks making the crucial and controversial decision to stick with Pettersson over Miller they now have a lot less star power on the ice to produce meaning Pettersson needs to be even better. Since the trade this has not been the case with Pettersson still kind of struggling to produce at elite levels leading to a lot of complaints and backlash. Today the frustration has continued as a former Canucks forward has spoken out and bashed Pettersson for not stepping up to the challenge.
Former Vancouver Canucks Forward Bashes Elias Pettersson
During a segment on Sportsnet former Vancouver Canucks forward Jannik Hansen spoke about the situation involving Pettersson, Miller, and the organization. He's a black hole right now. He wants pressure well here's the pressure and its worse than when J.T. was screaming down his throat apparently. Now there's nowhere to hide and this will only be able to last for so long.

This quote is a harsh one directed at Pettersson with seemingly inside information that the locker room issues have not resolved themselves after Miller's departure. The lack of improvement in the situation even led insider Darren Dreger to speculate on Pettersson's future. If things are not improving in the locker room and Pettersson seems to be a main culprit then his time in Vancouver could be very limited. With what seems like every former player in the Canucks organization speaking out against Pettersson it feels like Patrik Allvin and the front office are starting to run out of options once again much like the Miller situation over the last couple of months. It remains to be seen where this situation heads next but the Canucks need to get things under control and get Pettersson back to an elite level or consider moving on completely and cutting their losses.
