Connor Bedard reveals that a Canadiens prospect has a very special talent and that means a lot

In a recent interview with TVA Sports' excellent journalist Anthony Martineau, the future first pick of the next draft, Connor Bedard, made a revelation that will make Montreal Canadiens fans smile.

First, when asked about the possibility of being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens, Bedard played his cards right, mentioning that playing for one of the original six NHL teams would be special. However, he concluded by saying that he would be happy to join any team that selects him this June.

However, an even more interesting part of the story came afterwards when Martineau asked him about the possibility of playing with Joshua Roy, whom he has known well during the last two World Junior Championships.

That would be great! We played together at the last World Junior Championship. He's an incredible player who I think has a special talent." - Connor Bedard

Wow, when the next big star in the National League says you have a special talent, it says a lot about what Roy can offer the Habs!

This isn't the first time the Regina Pats captain has praised his trio mate with Team Canada Junior. The latter had admitted in the last few months that the Quebecer had been the guy who had made the biggest impression on him, by his skills on the ice and his intelligence in the game.

He's the player who made the biggest impression on me. I didn't know much about him before the summer tournament started. He's an incredible player. When you watch him in practice, I don't think he misses a shot. He's so smart. He's someone I love to watch." - Connor Bedard, on TSN

There's no doubt that the Habs hit a home run with the selection of No. 10 Sherbrooke Phoenix at No. 150 in the 2021 draft. All that remains is for him to continue to develop well until Montreal, even if that means a potential stint in Laval beforehand.

Can we still believe in Connor Bedard in a Tricolore uniform?

Despite the Habs' recent success in continuing to rack up points in the standings, despite a roster devoid of the majority of its regular players, the club is at the height of the race for the top lottery odds.

Currently, the CH has the seventh best odds, giving them a 6.5% chance of winning the Bedard lottery.

However, Vancouver, Arizona and even San Jose are within the Habs' ranking range, so there is a real chance that the club could slip even closer to the 4th or 5th spot in the draft, which implies an additional 2-3% gain in lottery odds.

We can continue to dream about Bedard, especially if the Habs can help the cause by playing good games that would still end with a loss.
