As we are seeing more and more of the trend in the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings have offered a big long-term contract to one of their young defensemen. The organization extended the services of Mikey Anderson for eight years, worth a total of $33 million, or an average of $4.125 million, per year. The team's GM, Rob Blake, decided to take a gamble on the potential of the 23-year-old defenseman, so that he could possibly become a bargain for the Kings one day. With several young defensemen to be re-signed in the next few years, Kent Hughes must be taking notes. The 2017 4th round pick is a very reliable defenseman defensively, compiling a record of two goals and 13 points in 55 games so far this season.
