New reports have revealed that the New York Rangers are looking to potentially trade several key pieces including Vincent Trocheck who would be a perfect fit for the Toronto Maple Leafs. This season the Toronto Maple Leafs have lacked depth at the center ice position with John Tavares playing fewer minutes than past seasons. The Maple Leafs have tried several options internally to fill the second-line center role including William Nylander, Max Domi, and Mitch Marner. To this point in the season, all of those players have not been able to take the second-line center role and run with it successfully. The lack of players stepping up internally has led many fans and media to begin exploring the trade market for a replacement second-line center. This evening an option might have been found from the New York Rangers as they are looking to offload veterans according to Elliotte Friedman.

With several veteran players up for grabs the Toronto Maple Leafs should check in on the availability of Vincent Trocheck who the Rangers could be eager to move.
Vincent Trocheck could be the missing link in Toronto
This season Vincent Trocheck has struggled along with many other forwards on the New York Rangers. Despite struggling this season and having just 10 points in 20 games Vincent Trocheck has a track record of being a great middle six center on several competitive teams. Last season Vincent Trocheck was excellent for the Rangers with 77 points in 82 total games. Beyond his points, Vincent Trocheck is known for being one of the better defensive centers in the NHL which would be a welcomed addition to the Maple Leafs lineup.

The biggest question mark with Vincent Trocheck is the fact that he is in the 3rd year of a 7-year contract and already 31 years old. If the Toronto Maple Leafs are willing to take the long-term risk for a short-term boost to their lineup Vincent Trocheck is the perfect addition. However, the Maple Leafs could be scared off by Vincent Trocheck being on the wrong side of 30 and in a slump to begin the year. As the season continues and the trade deadline comes closer this connection will be one to follow as the Maple Leafs almost certainly look to acquire a second-line center.
