For the majority of hockey fans, it is a complete confusion with the Arizona Coyotes organization.

Since the franchise entered the NHL in 1996, it has never been profitable, causing financial losses to the league since its inception. In addition, multiple organizational decisions have called into question the integrity and seriousness of this Arizona team over the years.

Many owners of the franchise have come and gone in the belief that they could turn the financial situation around, but to no avail.

The Coyotes organization has reached a new level of absurdity, as they have been playing in a 5,000-seat arena in Mullet Arena since the 2022-2023 season, which greatly limits the franchise's revenue.

This situation is closely related to the fact that for some months now, a project for a new amphitheater in Tempe is pending a referendum, where two camps are fighting, while some do not want this new building near the Sky Harbour International Airport at all.

The date for this important referendum for the future of the Coyotes will be May 16.

While NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was in Arizona to defend the Coyotes once again, he once again praised the local market, hoping to convince investors desperately for this project.

However, what particularly catches the eye is a statement about the future of the team that leaves no one indifferent. On the contrary, for hockey fans, it is downright heartbreaking.

"Once the draft passes, the Coyotes will never go anywhere else. They will be here forever."

"If you look at the substance, not the rhetoric... I can't imagine why anyone would think this is a bad idea." - Gary Bettman

That's a huge statement, especially for Nordiques fans who want a franchise back in Quebec City.

On the other hand, there is still hope that this project will never come to fruition, as last March, the City of Phoenix threatened to sue the City of Tempe if it went ahead with this project.
