We talk a lot about Shane Wright's anemic usage in Seattle, but the Kraken's handling of the fourth overall pick is appalling and highly controversial. The center has seen more press gallery games than he has played, and when he does play, he only steps on the ice for seven minutes or less. It's getting a lot of press and fan attention, but it seems to be starting to get some internal buzz as well. (Jeff) Marek (of Sportsnet), at intermission, said that as far as Shane Wright is concerned, it seems like everyone involved is frustrated. There's a lot of frustration, as he's been out (of the lineup) for a 3rd straight game, averaging 6:51 (per game). However, Marek doesn't think Francis wants to send him back to Kingston, he wants to keep him for the season. - NHL Watcher This is a major development in this case and certainly Wright's agent probably needs to call the Kraken out on the atrocious team management with his client. Besides, No. 51 is reportedly starting to get fed up and we can totally understand that. The young man needs to play hockey, having already lost a full season in his development due to the pandemic. While for most in the hockey world, it doesn't make sense to play so little rookie. The best thing for Wright would be to send him back to the OHL to see as much action as possible, that doesn't seem to be the plan of team GM Ron Francis. Knowing that Shane Wright's camp is already starting to get frustrated, and knowing that Ron Francis has no intention of changing his mind, this issue is likely to get very heated in the coming weeks.

Credit: Habs & NHL
